QUESTION:

What do the scholars of the Dīn and muftīs of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: Is a woman entitled to half of all the wealth of a man upon divorce?

Questioner: Brother from UK

ANSWER:

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب

A woman, after divorce, can demand the mahr [dower] from her husband, if the mahr was not already paid. She can demand whatever amount has been written in the mahr muwajjal [deferred dower]. However, in Islam, a divorced woman cannot take any amount of wealth of the man, let alone half of his wealth.
